QUEEN OF HEARTS
Acrylic on board H 50cm x 50cm
“There is not more agonising battle than that with the self. An endless pursuit of conciliation between the conflicting parts that makes us a whole. I’m coming to terms with the realisation that life itself is an oxymoron.
There is no more powerful strength than the realisation of our own vulnerability. No better way of feeling in control than by letting go and surrender. Perfection resides in the acceptance of imperfections. Two different aspects of the same card and yet, in the same aide and an integral part of the deck”.
The two sides of this self-portrait with the right and left hand in the aim of conveying the duality within Piluca.

                UNE VOIX
Acrylic and mixed media on board. H 79cm x W 60cm
With layers of musical sheets, barely recognisable, as a base for this painting; and just like most of our thoughts and whatever goes in our minds. This artwork pays tribute to all those who suffer from any kind of mental problems. All those whose voice goes often unheard or dismissed. To those amazing beings that are chained to their playful mind, yet, they can sing beautiful notes if you care to pay attention. That we don’t understand, shouldn’t be relinquished or pushed away.

                NAKED SOUL
Acrylic on canvas H 100cm x W 100cm
A very open, honest and heartfelt depiction of Piluca’s soul. A tangible tension between fears, memories, aspirations and resilience seem to fight to gain space to be ‘heard’. A lifetime of silence breaks at once in an explosive array of emotions constrained by space and time.

                HUMMINGBIRD
Acrylic on board. H 50cm x W 50cm
Another nature & animal kingdom inspired artwork with the most notable attributes found in the hummingbird serving as a background for the painting.

                OWL
Acrylic on board. H 50cm x W 50cm
Nature and Sir David Attenborough were the inspiration for this painting. His words served as background for this painting: “It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.” Sir David Attenborough
